So my partner is one of those men who, when I ask “what would you like for Christmas?” always replies with “there’s nothing I want.” Well we all know when our men say this that if it came to Christmas morning and he had got you this beautiful gift and you had nothing to give him back he would sulk and feel disappointed, but what do you buy a man who ‘wants nothing for Christmas.’

  • Litsen to him

Make sure when ever you are out and about and you hear him say “I really want this” or “that’s so awesome” and he see’s something he likes make a mental note and deductively figure out the thing that he currently wishes.

  • What Is His Lifestyle?

Is he the sporting type that likes to stay healthy and fit? is he the guy that pays a lot of attention to his looks? Or maybe he is the guy that spends all his time playing his games? either way, if he is a workaholic, gamer, science nut, history nut or adventure seeker, take this into account, it will narrow down the gift selection quite considerably.

  • Budget

Consider how much you have to spend and also how much is appropriate to spend given your relationship. If you have just been dating for a couple of month the budge will be a lot less than if you have been dating a couple of years. Some men may feel uncomfortable if the recieve a gift worth there weight in gold from someone they are seeing casually.

  • Keeping It Simple

There is nothing wrong with buying him one of those ordinary gifts such as a t-shirt or scarf, hell, I’ve been with my partner roughly 2 years and he’s getting some boxers from me for Christmas (along with a few other bits and pieces). You can always use his likes and dislikes to get him an ordinary present. If he is really into his music get him a Tee with his favorite band on, or if he really likes hiking buy him a sweater to keep him warm, maybe you could even buy him his favourite aftershave!

  • Try Something Personal

Something personal and sentimental never goes amidst; especially if he is an egoist. If he smokes get him an engraved lighter or cigar case, if he likes his tea and coffee get him a mug with “2 sugars, milk, decaff” or whatever it is he drinks written on it, or a personalized diary. You could always make the present yourself, a home made photoframe with his favourite picture of you as a couple, love coupons, a scrap book of your relationship. Men may act hard on the outside but they apprectiate the sentiment too!

  • Vouchers

If he is fussy as hell and you still don’t know what to get him then try getting him a voucher for his favourite shop, maybe he like GAME, HMV, Topman or Burtons, there is nothing wrong with a voucher this way he can choose something he loves!

  • Be Practical

My partner once told me that practical presents are the best (which explains the boxers). He loves getting the things he needs so he can then have enough money to treat himself to what he really wants, or so he can save up for something he wants. Don’t be affraid to buy a practical gift, if you know there is something he needs whether is be something for work or maybe something of his has broken. You may think it is a boring present but it saves him having to buy it himself.

So I though I would share with you the kind of boyfriend my Stevie is and let you know what I got him based on “How to find him the perfect gift.”

1. I listened. Stevie is really into anime (yes he is a bit of a geek, but that is why I love him) and one particular anime show he likes is Berserk so I had a look online to see what sort of Berserk merch you can get and I saw this wall scroll on Amazon, it would look great in his home and I know he will love it!

2. I was practical. We were mucking around is his room and I managed to put a hole in a pair of his boxer shorts (that’s a story for another day) and he said to me “I’m running out of boxers I really need some more.” So I thought it’s not much but I will buy a couple of pairs for him for Christmas, it saves him having to buy loads and he will appreciate them too! I got 2 pairs off asos for only $6 each.

3. I went for something personal. It was only a little gift for him but I know the thought will mean a lot. I got him a book called “Thank You For Being You” by Bradley Trevor Greive. It is a cute book and it just let’s him know how much I appreciate him in my life and everything he has done for me.

4. Stevie is fun, and he always likes a laugh so I thought why not get him a little joke present too, these “Crap Jokes” are from asos and only $5. I know he’ll find them funny and it doesnt matter if he uses them or not as it is the novelty of it! It’s the same with the Donut socks from asos, they are just a little fun something to chuck in the bag of stuff I got him although they are practical too as he does always loose his socks!
